How often do you say, “Why can’t I just do what I want to do? Why do I always sabotage all of my good efforts?” (And FYI figuring this out has nothing to do with willpower, force, or control.) It has to do with Helga and we're talking all about this little (you know what) in today's free coaching video!

How “Helga” is sabotaging all your weight loss efforts

Okay sister — so how often do you say, “Why can’t I just do what I want to do!? Why do I always sabotage all of my good efforts?” And FYI figuring this out has nothing to do with willpower, force, or control.

It has to do with Helga! If you’ve been following me for a while you’ve probably heard of this woman named “Helga” and how you shouldn’t let her sabotage you.

And I realized that I haven’t made a video solely dedicated to Helga and who she is exactly, so that’s what today’s free coaching video is all about. You’re not going to want to skip this video!

In today’s coaching video we’re talking about Helga and how she is holding you back from losing weight!

So if you’ve been following me for a while you’ve probably heard of this woman named “Helga” and how you shouldn’t let her get to you!

And I realized that I haven’t made a video solely dedicated to Helga and who she is exactly. I have written a book on her, so if you’re more of a reader you can get that book for free here

Okay — so how often do you say, “Why can’t I just do what I want to do! Why do I always sabotage all of my good efforts?” And FYI figuring this out has nothing to do with willpower, force, or control.

It has to do with Helga!

Okay, so we all have that voice in the back of our head (yes you do too and she’s probably talking right now). Some call it the ego, the inner critic, the monkey mind — there are many names for her.

In the Wildly Alive Weight Loss Program we go as far as drawing her, just to make her that much more real. You really can name her whatever you’d like. For some reason a lot of women end up naming her Bertha. HAHA!

She’s that voice that’s constantly beating you up, over analyzing, putting you down and holding you back.

You know who I’m talking about, right? She’s never nice and can be straight up mean, like school girl bully mean (ouch).

She speaks in first person and often says things like:

“I shouldn’t have eaten ______.”

“I should have a nicer car, bigger home, and more money in the bank.

She’s always telling you, you should be further along and you’re not good enough in this moment.

Other key phrases she uses include:

“I wish I…” “If only I had…” (She’s just never satisfied with right now.)

“______ shouldn’t be so flabby, dimply, or wrinkly.”

“I’m so stupid.”

“I’m so fat.”

“I’m not good enough.”

“I’m not pretty enough.”

“I’m not worthy enough.”

And all of these things she says on a *daily* basis.

Her bottom line is basically to remind you how much you suck. I know, it’s not cool.

And don’t let her fool you, she plays both sides of the coin. She tells you to eat the cake (because you’ve had a hard week and deserve it), and then when you’re done eating the cake, she tells you you’re a fat hog for eating it.

She tells you that you can never be fit like the other women in your office, then tells you you don’t even want to be fit like that because they must spend all their extra time at the gym and are selfish.

Yeah she’s a sneaky little (you know what).

She gets super loud in the mirror, when you’re picking out an outfit, when you’re around confident, fit women, when you’re contemplating going to the gym, and late at night in the kitchen… just to name a few. Oh, and she’s the loudest when you’re sleep deprived, so making that a priority is a great first step to standing up to this little punk.

The great thing about naming her and personifying her is it helps you start recognizing her.

You can really start to see when she comes out, so you can choose something differently. Here’s the thing, my dear.

You have a Helga, but you don’t need to LISTEN to Helga.

And soon, once you really have put her in her place, (which truth be told takes some practice) you can make decisions that satisfy your soul and not her, your ego.

So how do you gain control over her?

Honestly, it’s not anything too crazy; awareness, which is recognizing your thoughts free of judgement. Then, just tune in. Is this Helga or is this YOU, the REAL you.

Again, Helga’s mainly telling you, you suck.

And just recognizing it is her, will give you the power to not listen. If you want to learn more about her read my book, here.

I want to hear from you —

What is the main thing Helga tells you? And I’m pretty sure all you ladies will see how Helga tells you all the same lies.  Comment below.

My Helga says “Whatever efforts you take for weight loss you’ll lose your patience at one point and go back to your usual ways”

Deb this is such a common thing for Helga to tell most women wanting to live a healthier lifestyle. Okay — I want you to do a writing assignment; I want you to write down 10 reasons why you can’t lose weight (I know this sounds crazy, but trust me)…

I want you to let your “Helga” be her ridiculous self and say all the crazy things she does. Let her rant and go down the ugly “I suck” hole.

Then, take a breath and read them over. I want you to notice what happens. More likely than not you’ll read them and think, “I can’t believe I really believe this. It’s silly.” Let your wiser, older self come in with confidence and compassion to help Helga see those things are just excuses and if you really set your mind to this, you can do it.

Finally, I want you to cross out all the “cant’s” with a big black marker and write how you are going to over come this excuse.

Jennifer let me be the first to say that this is ABSOLUTELY false. Helga is totally full of crap!
